Where I Stand On The

Issues

Focused on policies that lower the cost of living.

  • Lower State Income Taxes

Groceries, utilities, property taxes and car insurance have all been on the rise. Lowering Michigan’s state income tax would allow working and middle-class families to hold onto the money that they’ve earned and give them an opportunity to say for college, to put money toward their down payment, to plan for retirement, to afford child care, and start and grow small businesses.

  • Reduce Property Tax Burden

The property taxes are too high for the working middle-class families in our district. The state of Michigan should cover more of the cost of education, infrastructure, and public safety so that homeowners and those looking to buy a home in our district can get relief on property taxes.

  • Lower Energy Cost

Every family in our district is impacted by the heavy winters in out state, and it’s our responsibility of the state government to advocate for people in our district for affordable rates by pushing energy companies to keep prices down, expanding access to the energy grid for businesses, and utilizing its regulatory power. Where you’re living in an apartment, a condo, or a single-family home you should have affordable energy.

  • Car Insurance Rebates & Accountability

Michigan requires all drivers to get car insurance, but the current system doesn’t reward responsible drivers. Michigan needs to implement policies that reward responsibility car ownership by giving them rebates for safe driving. These rebates will help lower the cost of living and put more money back in people’s pocket.

  • Support Funding For Local Roads

Michigan needs to do more to fund local and private roads that service thousands of residents in our district. Families are contributing millions of dollars towards roads, but are not seeing the results show up back in the community. Michigan needs to expand funding for roads without raising taxes.

  • Funding Blight Removal Efforts

Our district has thousands of small businesses looking to give back to the community. In areas like Burton, we see blighted properties that could be used for residential and business purposes. Michigan should implement policies that provide tax incentives for small businesses and local developers to build in these areas.
